Clinics and Honors Bands
All-State East Junior & Senior Clinics
Auditioning for clinics and honors bands is encouraged for all students in grades 9-12. Knowledge of all major scales and preparation of the prepared material for the clinic is required. An evaluation session with the director is required prior to approval for auditioning for any clinic or honors band. Selected students in 9th grade will audition for Junior Clinic while selected students in grades 10-12 will audition for Senior Clinic. This clinic is a prerequisite for any student wishing to be considered for All-State Band or Orchestra Clinic.
All-State East Jazz Clinic
Students who wish to audition for this clinic should be familiar with the jazz style and improvisation techniques (see the director for details).
All-State Band and/or Orchestra
Students are selected for All-State Band or Orchestra based on placement in
the E.T.S.B.O.A. Senior Clinic
(see director for details).
Honors Bands
Various honors bands will be announced throughout the year. In the past we have placed students in the University of North Carolina, University of Tennessee @ Knoxville, University of Tennessee @ Chatanooga, and University of Georgia Honors Bands.
Governor's School for the Arts
Auditioning for this school is encouraged for students in 10th and 11th grade. This school is highly competitive and only the best students from across the state are accepted. If accepted, the student attends a 4 week session of intensive music and fine arts study during the summer. An application for audition must be obtained from the director. Knowledge of all major scales and preparation of the prepared material for the school is required. An evaluation session with the director is required prior to approval for auditioning for any clinic or honors band.
E.T.S.B.O.A. Solo and Ensemble Festival
Students may sign up as soloist or in small ensembles (duets,trios, etc.) to participate in this festival. Students are rated by a judge and given medals and/or certificates based on the results of their performance. Open to students in grades 9-12. An evaluation session with the director is required prior to approval for participating in this event.
