Volunteer
Booster Committees
- Alumni / Historian
- Help maintain a database of alumni information, keeping the alumni informed of events, sending special invitations as needed, and
soliciting donations as needed.
- Audio & Visual
- Help record (both audio and visual) all performances; take candid
photos and interviews of students and parents before, during, and
after any event and everywhere we go; and making & producing audio
CDs and videos for students and parents. Training is available for
all areas listed.
- Band Camp
- Assist in the preparation, serving, and clean up of each meal and
break times. Meals include light breakfast and lunch. Break times
include morning and evening with breaks consisting of a snack and
drink.
- Chaperone
- Accompany the band on all trips & home football games; keep
discipline & order on the bus and/or on-site as needed. Help set
up and maintain all the first aid bags for the school year.
- Equipment
- Loading and unloading the equipment truck at the school with all
necessary instruments and equipment; transporting the equipment and
instruments from the unloading area to the performance area; and returning
the equipment and instruments from the performance area to the truck.
- Fundraising
- Assist with organizing, collecting forms, and delivery of any fundraiser
as needed. Fundraiser opportunities to add to your student’s
account include Cookie Dough sale (early fall), Florida Indian River
Fruit sale (late fall), and Pepsi sale (early spring). Please mark
your availability. The Smoky Mountain Marching Festival (October 28,
2006) requires help from all students and parents to be successful.
- Hospitality
- Help prepare, serve, & welcome people to functions and various
events of the Band Booster Club, the Band, and the school. These functions
and events include but are not limited to the Band Camp Reception;
all home football games, some away football games, and some competitions
during the marching season; the Hospitality Room at the Smoky Mountain
Marching Festival; the Hospitality area for any clinics or festivals
hosted by the band; 8th grade orientation at the middle school; and
the Annual Spring Cookout in May.
- Practice Field Maintenance
- Help mow, line, and maintain the practice field for band camp and
the marching season; clean and rope off the back parking lot for band
camp; and if needed to help line the football field for the Smoky
Mountain Marching Festival in October.
- Publicity / Communication
- Help maintain the South-Doyle Band website; help publicize all
functions, events, and fundraisers to the school and the community.
- Uniforms
- Help organize and maintain the uniform room; help with the measuring
and fitting of the uniforms; and help with issuing and returning uniforms
at each performance.
- Other Areas
- Help with various tasks as necessary. Contact any Board Member
to find out when and where extra help is needed.
