Band Director & Staff

Originally from Tennessee, Mr. DeArmond is a proud alumnus of South Doyle High

School and the University of Tennessee, where he earned his Bachelor of

Music in Music Education. During his time at UT, he was deeply involved

with the Pride of the Southland Marching Band, serving as Drum Major

(154th edition), Assistant Drum Major (153rd edition), Media

Communications Specialist, Undergraduate Assistant, and a Leadership

Team Member for five consecutive years. His time in the Pride of the

Southland helped shape his approach to leadership, discipline, and

musicianship values he now instills in his students.

Mr. DeArmond’s dedication to excellence has earned him numerous accolades,

including the Volunteer of Distinction Award and the Outstanding

Graduate in Music Education Award from the University of Tennessee. He

was also the recipient of the Robert and Mary Neal Culver Scholarship

for his achievements in music education.

In addition to his collegiate accomplishments, Mr. DeArmond has extensive

experience as a conductor, instructor, and mentor for musicians. His

commitment to the band community extends beyond the classroom, as he

actively participates in professional development and conferences such

as the Midwest Clinic, as well as other state and national music

education events.

Beyond music, Mr. DeArmond is a dedicated leader and mentor, having served as

Master Councilor of the Order of DeMolay in 2021, where he planned

events and instructed young leaders. He believes in the power of music

to build character, confidence, and community, and he strives to create a

program where every student feels valued and inspired.

Outside of teaching, Mr. DeArmond enjoys riding motorcycles, watching sports,

and spending time with friends and family. He is honored to be part of

the South Knoxville community and looks forward to continuing the

tradition of excellence in the South Doyle Band program.
